Hello all,

I have finally decided that I can do more with the online casualty database if I split it off into it’s own website. http://warmemorial.us is now online. The database contains all the US casualties from the Korean war, the Vietnam war, the Persian Gulf war, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi freedom, and a number of states casualties from WWII. I have chosen a wiki format for the database, to better allow folks to add/edit information, stories, pictures etc… Check it out, it has really shaped up into a nice site.

World War Two Honor List

I’ve decided to work on adding the War II Honor List of Dead and Missing
Army and Army Air Forces Personnel to the US War Casualty database. This is a very large project, which I expect to take about a year to complete.
I will be adding individual states as they are done. So Far the following states are finished; Alabama, Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Maine,
Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampsire, Rhode Island, Vermont. These states comprise approximatly 70,000 casualties, and I expect the WWII honor list to add about 300,000 soldiers when complete. My goal is to eventually have a searchable list of all our brave soldiers who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

One of the great things about switching web hosts, has been that I’ve been able to go back and revisit past projects.  This weekend I finished the preliminary work on the war memorial, adding in the features that I initially wanted. Now folks can share a memory about a loved one lost in war, or even a photo, or video. Check it out

Currently an effort is under way to raise funds to erect a memorial for the 612 brave Connecticut men who died serving their country during Vietnam. This effort is certainly long overdue. GunDB.net is in the process of changing web hosts. The architecture is completely diffrent, so diffrent sections of the site will be brought online as I configure them. I expect this process to take a couple weeks. I apologize for the inconvenience.

The regeneration of the sites pages is going fairly quickly, it should be done in a week or so. In the meantime I’m working on adding some forums to the site. Most of the forum software out there that I’ve seen looks like it comes straight out of the eighties, so I decided to write my own. The forums will be in a blog style. After the initial roll out in a few weeks, it will be a work in progress. At this point I am planning on having user added forums, for whomever wishes to moderate them. If there are any features you would like to see, feel free to email me, or add comments wherever it seems appropriate.

I’ve missed those guestbooks you used to see everywhere on the web a number of years ago, so I wrote one for the site. Feel free to add any suggestions or comments there.

Friday night, I had the displeasure of seeing the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen anyone do, and keep in mind I’ve seen someone shoot themselves in the foot at the pistol range. My brother, a veteran of Iraqi freedom, and his girlfriend threw a party at the Hyde Park VFW in Vermont. I was quite impressed with the hall, and I thought the donation box for “Support our Troops” was a very nice touch for the party (It brought in nearly $200 for the evening). The night started out quite well, the drinks had exactly the right amount of mixer (a drop or two for color), and the food was excellent. It came time for the strippers to come on, and the evening went downhill from there. The strippers were the most talentless hacks I’ve ever had the misfortune to see. I’ve seen robots move more seductively than these girls. After about an hour of them “dancing” the crowd had given up about all the dollar bills they were willing to part with, and at that point the girls offered to remove clothing for more money. I heard one girl tell a fellow she would take off her bra for $20, his reply was “How much for you to keep it on?” At this point there was much grumbling for the bar to reopen. My brother and I headed towards the bar, to see if the bartender had returned. My brother glanced towards the door, and asked me, “Did that stripper just take money out of the donation box?” After a couple minutes of watching her, sure enough, she reached in again, and grabbed some more money. The strippers were promptly thrown out, but not before one of the female partygoers gave the thief a couple of shots, knocking her down after the first one, and then again when the stripper got up and started running her mouth. I’ve seen a lot of dumb things, but stealing from a troop donation box in a VFW while you’re bare-ass naked is the dumbest I’ve seen. The stripping outfit was the Solid Gold Dancers out of Burlington, VT. Somehow I doubt they will be getting any gigs in that area anytime soon.

Father wants answers after son’s death.2

Posted by admin in Uncategorized (Wednesday July 5, 2006 at 6:34 pm)

DAYTON, Ohio — A father said he wants answers after finding out investigators will not charge anyone with his son’s death.

William Abrams II, age 33, was shot to death in March outside his Burkhardt Avenue apartment after a fight with his girlfriend.

Police said the girlfriend called her ex-husband for help.

The ex showed up and shot Abrams in the chest after Abrams came at him with a knife, police said.

Hmm, how many answers are not already apparent? Your son brought a knife to a gunfight, your son is now dead. It seems pretty simple to me.

“The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) have joined with the Madison Society and a dozen law professors from major universities in filing a Brandeis brief in a Washington, D.C. case that has significant implications on the individual right to keep and bear arms.”

“The case, Shelly Parker et al v. District of Columbia could result in a landmark ruling on the meaning and authority of the Second Amendment.”

“SAF Founder and CCRKBA Chairman Alan M. Gottlieb said the Parker case has the potential of bringing the Second Amendment ‘clearly, and unmistakably into focus as an individual civil right.’” …
